In a pretty valley scattered with blue buildings amongst the brown and green lies Bundi town, surrounded by mountains.
Bundi was a break for us from the intensity of Northern India and the Golden Triangle (Agra, Jaipur, New Delhi). A town somewhat off the well-worn Rajasthan tourist trail, normal, relatively quiet life is happening here on the narrow streets you walk, amidst all the photogenic blue buildings and the grand forts and palaces from another time.
You'll visit abandoned Taragarh Fort, the ancient stepwells, and eerily abandoned Garh Palace up high on the hill, left untouched, unpolished since the days of the last maharaja who lived here luxuriously with his cohort.
