There's many a spot in France for wild swimming, that is, the art of first finding, then swimming in wild, untouched waters - springs, weirs, lakes, waterfalls.
The best ones are hard to find, you'll have to follow your nose, your map, rusty old signs, locals pointing wildly in all directions. And when you get lost, as we did, there'll be plenty of pretty towns to explore (hello Brantôme) as you try to find your way there.
The adventure is in finding your way.
p.s. We found this spot, Le Moulin de Rochereuil, plus more in France, Europe and the UK on Wild Swimming.
