This palatial museum's beauty is on par with plenty of museums and palaces dotted in and around Paris with something far more weird and wonderful to boast – the rooms are filled with taxidermy from decades past.

Animals mingle and mix with ornate, gothic decor. A fox curled up on an antique chair, paw prints embedded in the tiles, lions lounging on tiled floors, a giant polar bear holding court in the sitting room.

Delightfully creepy, quite deserted and right in the middle of the Marais.
