People crowd the canal at the Quai de la Seine in summer for waterside petanque, drinks along the cafe terraces, outdoor dance class and casual picnics dangling their feet over the water. You can also rent a little electric boat here and sail it slowly up and down the Bassin de la Villette, with rosé and picnic on board.
Haleigh and I floated up and down the canal for a few hours on a long summer's evening in August. The sun came in and out from behind the clouds, our french flag waved in the breeze off the back of our boat, we waved to boats passing by and tried to avoid hitting others amongst fits of laughter. A perfect spot for a sunny day in Paris.
