We caught the local bus South from Midigama, then a rickshaw to this sheltered bay to spend the day in paradise. This prettiest of bays is fringed with coconut trees all around, with clear blue, sparkly water and soft sand. Stepping through the line of palms to glimpse this scene for the first time was something like stepping into a parallel universe where nothing back in the real world mattered.
The gentle waves that slowly roll in whole are perfect for beginner surfers on rented longboards. There were no serious surfers to watch out for out here in the water, just travellers lazily dabbling in catching the odd wave and the occasional turtle popping its head up next to our boards.
Step through the coconut palms, into a dream world for a day or longer; I could have stayed a week in this reality.
