There's a dense, dark forest on the outskirts of Berlin where a huge ring of deep, green trees envelopes the sites within.
Take the train to Berlin-Grunewald, walk a long while through adjacent Grunewald Forest, tripping past wildflowers all the way and you'll come to Teufelssee, a lake surrounded by tall trees on all sides.
Berliners congregate here in summer (often nude) to bathe in the sunshine and the lake, escape the concrete city and enter a realm of true, wild nature.
The only structure in site on the skyline is that of Teufelsberg, the abandoned spy listening station on a hill. Being here feels like an eerie beautiful dream.
