Every year, what seems like the entire population of Amsterdam takes a weekend in August to celebrate gay pride together. It's a time for the city's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender residents to celebrate and for all to celebrate that you can love who you want and be who you are out in the open here.
The main event, the Saturday parade, sees floats spouting coloured confetti into the sky literally float down Amsterdam's canals, whilst cheering, happy people line the sides on boat and on foot.
Love wins in this liberal city, the energy in the air is one of openness, excitement and joy, it's pretty special to see a whole city gather in celebration of the acceptance of all.
Check here for official annual dates, around end July/early August.
